I had a few questions about the ingredients in my Body & Room Sprays., So im going to take some time to answer them here š
Q. Why do you use a chemical Polysorbate 20 in your sprays?
A. This is a multi part answer.
1st, everything in the world is a Chemical.
The very Air you breathe is Nitrogen, Oxygen, Water Vapor, Argon & Carbon Dioxide. The word Chemical is used as a fear factor Buzzword by people who donāt know what they are talking about.
I was 1 of those people. For years!
2nd, Polysorbate 20 is what Is known as a Solubilizer/Emulsifier,Ā It Melds oil & water together so that you don't have to shake your sprays prior to using.
Itās Also used so that the oils, which are solvents, aren't sitting on top of your water eating away at that plastic dip tube. That plastic will leech into your water.
Q. What IS Polysorbate 20, where does It come from?
A,Ā Polysorbate 20 is derived from Sorbitol, the same sugar alcohol that Is used in sugar free drinks & foods.
Q. Is it man made?
A. Yes. So are Essential oils.
Q. Is it Synthetic?
A. Yes, in that it is man made. You cant grow it in your gardens & pick it. But you also canāt just go out into the field & pick Essential oils either š¤·āāļø
Q. The Black Bottles are different. Why?
A. The beautiful Copper colored Aluminum bottles are almost gone and I couldnāt source them again.
Q. Some of your sprays donāt have Polysorbate 20 in them. What is that long word?
A. Ahhh āSorbitan Oleate Decylglucoside Crosspolymerā itās common name is, Poly Sugar Mulse D9.
PSMD9 is also a Solubilizer/Emulsifier.
Also man made. But it is considered āNaturalā because itās made from Palm oil.
I love it because it is Ecocert approved for Organic formulations, biodegradable, 1,4- Dioxin free, PEG free and it protects you from accidentally getting globs of essential oils or fragranceĀ oils on your skin.
I am required by law to list this ingredient as āSorbitan Oleate Decylglucoside Crosspolymerā (as that is its chemical name) on the labels.
Q. What is a Hydrosol
A. Yay! I LOVE this question!
A Hydrosol by definition is a āColloidal suspension of essential oils in water by distillationā
They are created by Hydro distilling plant material.
What they are Not is a By Product of essential oil distillations.
They are Also Not essential oils added to water with Poly20 (or any other Solubilizer) added.

Jeanne Rose was a Phenomenal teacher who passed away last year. For now, her invaluable website is still available.
Q. How do you make Hydrosols?
A. I personally make them by growing, harvesting (and either using fresh or carefully drying the herbs, flowers and trees) placing them inside of the pot of the still, adding the correct amount of water and ācookingā them. If youāre ever at the market or an expo Iāll gladly show you on the still how that works.
Q. Why are you using Tallow?
A. Because itās Amazing! I started using tallow when we harvested our last batch of pigs. I no longer had a ready source of fat to make my soaps out of. I found out that the Quapaw Farmers Market had tallow for sale so I learned how to render fat.
Now I use Tallow from Wise Choice Beef ( https://www.facebook.com/share/15HGujh8kG/?mibextid=wwXIfr) and several small local ranchers.
Tallow is amazing for your skin as it contains a good portion of the same Lipids that our own skin has.
It contains natural vitamins like K, A, D & E. It absorbs well into the skin and helps to provide a barrier preventing moisture loss.
Q. When did you start making Goats milk soap
A. Just a couple of months ago when I started buying beef from a local rancher who Also raised beautiful Goats! Melissa with 5M Mini Nubians is Amazing! https://www.5mmininubiansllc.com/
Well, thatās plenty for today!
I LOVE Q & Aās and I Hope that everyone that buys my products feels free to ask. Iām Always willing to share all that I can!
Have an Amazing Day!!
Much Love,
Kris
